frequently asked questions
Sod can be installed anytime of the year as long as it is available in our inventory. Please keep in mind that when sod is installed in the summer, it takes more water to keep it alive.
Although you can install the sod at anytime, First Capital Sod Farm suggests the cooler periods of the year for the best results.
The watering of the sod needs to begin as soon as the sod has been installed. The first 72 hours of installation is when you should water the sod the most. You want to make sure you water the sod just enough to soak to the ground below. When and how frequent you water your sod is based on the air quality and rainfall. As time goes on (we suggest two weeks after installation), make sure to lengthen the time between each time you physically water it.
Now that your sod is installed and healthy, you want to treat your sod like any other grass. It is important to make sure that the blades on your mower are sharp to ensure smooth operations and a crisp clean look. First Capital Sod Farms are happy to help you with all of your mowing needs.
